During my numerous field research expeditions, I have examined a variety of landscapes for the diversity of lichens and fungi, incorporating these observations into my artistic work. Lichens, lichenized fungi, represent a highly developed symbiotic partnership between fungi and photoautotrophic organisms (such as algae or cyanobacteria).
Many species are capable of colonizing extreme habitats. Some lichens can grow on bare rock surfaces, while others have been discovered by me at altitudes of 5000 meters in the Himalayan mountains. Lichens are among the longest-lived organisms on earth and can live for several hundred years. There are approximately 20,000 different species of lichens.
Lichens come in a wide spectrum of colors, ranging from white to vibrant yellow, various shades of brown, rich orange, deep red, pink, olive green, blue-green, gray, and even jet black

Metanoia, 2019
tree tumors and natural tree resin, 50*50*50
Metanoia has emerged in response to current environmental changes and neoliberal processes of uprooting, seeking a utopian „being rooted.“ The primary materials used are old and rare tree tumors collectedover a period of three years and tree resin extracted from deceased spruce trees. The transformations and traces of landscapes and forests in the advancing Anthropocene are complex processes that influence the approach of my artistic work, which is essentially a work on the memory of nature.

Fomentarius, 2023
tree fungi and natural tree resin, 60*37*37
In my work „Fomentarius,“ I engage with the hidden forces and secrets of nature. Tree fungi and tree resin serve as carrier materials. The fascination with the transformation and inherent power of these substances creates a foundation for new narratives that are never merely outcomes and documentation, but always starting points for fresh perspectives and interconnections. Fungi, with their mysterious presence and symbiotic relationship with trees, symbolize for me the astonishing network of life in concealment. They act as messengers of nature, pointing to the interplay and balance within ecosystems.

Nunc stans, 2022
old wood, 37*37*34
The natural ecosystem, as a symbolic and emotional space – to be surveyed and probed – is constitutive of my work.
It always revolves around the various ways of perceiving nature and their significance for our understanding of the world. It’s always an excavation and remembering.
A sculpture must awaken the memory of the earth!
My works have an archetypal character and bring something apparent with them: a mediation of inside
and outside, form and matter, object and subject. There is always an in-between; the arrival and finality
fails to materialize.

Am Rand der Zeit, 2020
The stimulating power of nature serves as the starting point for my creative work. This impression of an
archaic, uncontrollable nature is contrary to an age of smooth, seamless and virtual. A place of power,
transformation and constant change.
My work as an artist resembles an archaeologist who measures, arranges and archives the natural landscape. It is a kind of artistic measurement of the landscape.
